Aloha!
One of our favorite things to do is to go hiking. It was one of the main reasons we wanted to move somewhere greener after living in Arizona. In Hawaii we went hiking all the time. Any time we travel we try to squeeze in a hike or two, and now that were settling here we are getting a few under our belt. We don’t do anything crazy like backpack for days or rock climb. We just like nature walks or short hikes on a designated path. Chris eventually wants to get a little more involved with longer hikes or adding some camping overnights, but I will stick with short and sweet! So for today’s post I thought I would share some of our adventures, and if you want to know details or exact locations please don’t hesitate to ask or leave a comment!
This first one is from about a week ago! We found this hiking trail called Live Oak Trail that is right down the road from our house, it was about 2 miles in the forest, and it takes you to the Ashley River. This one was a little more “wild” and I made Chris walk in front of me to keep the spider webs off of me 😛
This one is from the Middleton Plantation right here in our backyard, well down the road anyway! We have a membership to this plantation, and it is gorgeous to walk! They have gardens, the Ashley River, swamps, farm animals, nursery, and some historical buildings! They also have a restaurant here that looks out over the forest and lake, and a hill covered with azaleas in the spring. We love it there because they have the best “She-Crab soup”!
This is from when we lived we Arizona, and this was a hike up South Mountain. We did this hike a handful of times and it was our favorite one in AZ.
This was from when we lived in Hawaii and we would hike to Makalawena Beach, which was our favorite beach! You can also 4×4 to this beach, but my dad did not like us taking his truck so we would have park and hike over the lava fields to get to it!
This was my favorite place in the world when I lived in Puna with Chris when I went to college. This was 2 miles down the road from his parents house, and it was this long stretch of cliffs along the ocean, and we would take little Cowboy down there and walk almost everyday. Look at his little fuzzy butt! LOVE IT!!!
This was in St. Lucia on our honeymoon! We met this adorable couple, the Cannons, while we were there, and they asked us to join them for a day trip to hike in between the “Pitons” to a private beach. We had so much fun exploring with them!
This was a day trip we did to Sedona, AZ and we hiked along a river and had a picnic!
We took a trip to Atlanta, GA before we thought about moving to SC, when we considered moving to Atlanta. We had a fun trip and hiked twice! We stayed at a mountain resort which was beautiful to hike! And then we did a hike at Stone Mountain!
This was here in SC near Mt. Pleasant which has a boardwalk through the swamps along the ocean! They have this big treehouse lookout, and I had to drag Chris up there because he is afraid of heights…LOL
Just thought I would share one of our other hobbies with you other than DIY and house renovating! If you have a favorite hiking spot, feel free to share it in the comments below! We are always looking for new places to go to!
