Aloha! I thought it would be fitting to share how we save on flowers, especially this time of year, for Valentines Day! Every woman loves flowers, and lets be honest, they can get sooo expensive! We usually buy flowers for several different reasons every year. Mothers day, birthdays, saying thank you, and anytime someone we know is grieving. When we do send those flowers, I like them delivered, which costs more $! So we have come up with a way that we save, every time we order. The company we like to use is FTD.com , and we signed up for their “gold membership”, which is $30 a year (It pays for itself if you use it twice). What this gets you is free shipping and delivery, even same day delivery on every order! So that alone is a great way to save, but to add more savings, we then buy a groupon before we are going to order flowers. Groupon seems to always have a deal going on for FTD, and we always get the $15 for $30 worth of flowers. So to give you an idea, we are spending $15 total, but we order a $30 bouquet and get free shipping (saves $12 + $16 since we usually ship to Hawaii for our moms). Wait! I am not finished! To save even more, I use ebates, if you are unaware of what ebates is, please read my previous post about saving $ tips, here. So ebates not only gives you a discount on groupon, but FTD as well! So here is the breakdown of what this process looks like;
-Go to ebates and look for groupon, activate cash back, (today it is 6%), you are redirected to groupon.com
-Search for FTD in the groupon search bar, and click on the $15 for $30 deal, purchase it.
– Next go to ebates again in a new window, and search for FTD.com, activate cash back, (today is 20% cash back!!) again you will be redirected to ftd.com
-Now choose what flowers you would like to purchase! I like to stay as close to $30 since that is what the groupon will cover, but you can always spend more than that too if you would like, its still $30 off your total. For todays example, I chose this dozen red roses for $39.99. Add flowers to cart, fill out your addresses, card, etc, and checkout. Now in the gift card area, enter your groupon code you just purchased. (located in “my groupons” on groupon.com)
-Now you should see that $30 discounted from your total. Now you can always add the “gold membership” FTD offers to your cart and checkout at this point, but I don’t think they will give you the free shipping unless it was previously purchased, so perhaps pay for that membership a day or two prior to this, so you can apply it. Or if you don’t want it, ignore this step!
-So at checkout, my total is $39.99 for the flowers minus $30 from groupon=$9.99. So I spent
$15 (groupon)
+
$9.99 (remaining balance)
=
$24.99
for $40 worth of flowers and no shipping fee! Then I will get 6% cash back from groupon on the $15 purchase=$.90, then another 20% off the total price ($39.99), I checked out with on FTD.com=$7.99! So I will be getting $8.89 cash back, making the total I am spending on flowers after all said and done =
$16.10!!!
Anyway I just thought I would share how we save on buying flowers because they can get so expensive and we love sending flowers to the people we care about, but don’t want to spend a fortune!
I hope you all have wonderful Valentines Days!! <3 <3 <3
