I am so happy we decided to add an outdoor breakfast bar to our screened-in porch! We randomly decided one day how nice it would be to eat breakfast out on the porch now that the weather is beautiful, so we put our heads together and figured out it would be really easy to pull it off! We also had 3 antique chairs in the attic that came with the house that needed a lot of TLC, but I thought they would be perfect for the outdoor breakfast bar! All we needed was a 2″x12″x8′ board, some decorative shelf supports, wood screws, 3 chairs, paint, and some quarter round molding. We did it in a couple hours and we have been enjoying it ever since! If you have more questions about how we built it or anything please don’t hesitate to ask!
I repainted the chairs, and added some beefier chair cushions and recovered the cushions as well. ย A fun trick I have learned for recovering any outdoor furniture is instead of buying new outdoor cushions which are so expensive, is to recover them with shower curtains or table cloth fabric. It is much cheaper than buying outdoor fabric or new cushions, but virtually the same water resistant polyester material. In this case I am using tablecloths I got from TJ Maxx, which I got enough to recover my cushions for my fire pit set too, that is next on my list. We also had this antique rocking chair that had completely fallen apart, so we repaired, repainted, recovered, and riveted that as well! I know this rocking chair is old because it had been recovered three times, (saw old material underneath), and was filled with spinach moss! Back before cotton and fiber fill, they used to fill bedding, mattresses, cushions, with spanish moss, but they didn’t know that chiggers live on spanish moss, which is where the saying “Don’t let the bed bugs bite” came from! Little history lesson for you today!
We did take a break from the projects and headed to the beach! We geared up and got ourselves some new beach accessories too! Check them out…We are making it a goal to hit the beach every week! If you want to gear up to0, I have the links to the items we beach with below!
Well thats all for now! Mahalo for reading! And I would love to know what your goals for spring are?
